EEC Lincolne Scott was commissioned to carry out the full mechanical and electrical services concept design documentation for the extensions to the general motors extensions.
The design had to reflect the very stringent GM quality requirements for the electrical, fire alarm, communications, mechanical ventilation, air conditioning, fire sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, sanitary drainage, process water and compressed air systems.
Part of the design process included value engineering and involved the presentation of alternative services arrangements to the GM Specification. These changes provided significant cost saving without compromising the integrity of the GM Specification intent.
EEC Lincolne Scott was also commissioned to undertake full time construction supervision of the installation works for a 10-month construction program.
The extension allowed an increased capacity of 16 units per hour.
The GM factory produces automobiles for Chevrolet and Isuzu for local and export markets.
